After divorce, I tortured ex-husband with twins

Chapter 1

The day of Avonsville socialite Isabella Clark's wedding had arrived, but there was one glaring absence - the groom.

Daniel Scott, the groom-to-be, had been in a vegetative state since a devastating car accident six months prior. Doctors had given him a grim prognosis, stating that he would not live to see the end of the year.

In a desperate attempt to secure her son's happiness before his untimely demise, Daniel's mother took it upon herself to arrange a marriage for him.

The Scotts were known as one of the wealthiest families in Avonsville, but finding a socialite willing to marry a man on death's doorstep proved to be an impossible task.

Isabella sat at the vanity, her slender figure draped in a white wedding gown. Her elegant makeup accentuated her porcelain complexion, making her appear as delicate as a budding red rose.

Yet, behind the beauty, a flicker of unease danced in her almond-shaped eyes.

With only twenty minutes remaining until the ceremony, Isabella anxiously swiped her fingers across her phone screen, desperately awaiting a text message.

Before being forced into this marriage, Isabella had a secret boyfriend - Daniel's nephew, Callum Scott. They had never made their relationship public, and now, they faced the cruel irony of being bound together in matrimony.

The night before, Isabella had sent Callum a text, hoping they could escape Avonsville together and elope. She had stayed up all night, her heart pounding with anticipation, but the reply never came.

She could wait no longer.

Isabella rose from her seat, clutching her phone tightly in her hand, and concocted an excuse to leave the room.

She hurried down the corridor, her steps quick and urgent. As she passed one of the rooms, a sound caught her attention, causing her to freeze in her tracks.

Through the slightly ajar door, Isabella heard the delighted giggles of her sister, Sophia.

"I bet my foolish sister is still waiting for you, Callum. Maybe you should sweet-talk her a bit more. What will we do if she gets cold feet and backs out of the wedding?" Sophia teased.

Callum's voice, laced with a hint of arrogance, replied, "Does she really have a choice now that everything is set in motion?"

Isabella's heart sank as she watched Callum hold Sophia in his arms, his thin lips brushing against her neck."Even if she attempts to withdraw now, the guards will forcefully escort her down the aisle!" Sophia's sinister laughter filled the room, her words dripping with malice. "Isabella will go mad with rage when she discovers that you've been spending every night with me!"

A surge of violent buzzing overwhelmed Isabella's senses, causing her to stagger backward, nearly losing her balance. She tightened her grip on her gown, her knuckles turning white as she fought back the tears welling in her eyes.

Ever since her father's company collapsed and he fell ill, Isabella had become a pawn in her stepmother's wicked game. Madeline Clark, driven by greed, forced Isabella into a marriage with the Scott family, disguising her motives as a benefit to the Clark family. But Isabella knew better; this was Madeline's cruel way of disposing of her!

To make matters worse, her boyfriend, who professed his love, had betrayed her in the most unexpected manner. Callum had urged her to proceed with the wedding, promising to marry her once Daniel died. But it was all a web of deceit!

Her dreams shattered, Isabella struggled to catch her breath amidst the rising cacophony in the room. Her fists clenched, and her gaze turned icy cold.

For years, she had endured the torment inflicted by her stepmother and stepsister, all for the sake of her father. She had suffered countless injustices in the name of family loyalty. She cursed her own naivety and gullibility.

No more. She would no longer allow herself to be a fool. She would reclaim everything that was rightfully hers!

The wedding ceremony commenced shortly after, the soft strains of romantic music filling the air as Isabella, adorned in her wedding gown and holding a bouquet of flowers, made her way down the aisle. Ignoring the puzzled gazes of the crowd, she spoke her own vows and slipped the wedding ring onto her own finger.

She was met with confusion and bewilderment, but Isabella paid them no mind. From this moment forward, she was Mrs. Scott, untouchable and unyielding.

However, little did her new husband know that his days of reigning over Avonsville were numbered.

...

That night, Isabella was escorted to Daniel's opulent mansion. Situated in the heart of the city's affluent district, the mansion boasted a price tag of over 150 million dollars. Before Isabella could fully grasp its grandeur, Mrs. Griffin whisked her away to the master bedroom. As her gaze swept across the room, it was instantly captivated by the figure lying on the grand bed. She approached with measured steps, her eyes fixed on his face.

Daniel possessed a striking countenance, his chiseled features standing out amidst an air of regality. Despite his unnaturally pale complexion from being confined indoors, his handsome visage held an irresistible allure.

Had it not been for his illness, Isabella would have never found herself bound to him in marriage.

Before the car accident left him bedridden, Daniel had been a formidable presence in the country of Aryadelle. As the head of the Sterling Group, one of the nation's top corporations, his power and influence were legendary.

Whispers of his ruthlessness and tyrannical nature echoed through the corridors of the business world, his legal endeavors entwined with the shadowy dealings of the underworld. Crossing his path meant paying a steep price, a lesson learned by many unfortunate souls.

Isabella had never fathomed that she would be wedded to a man like Daniel.

Lost in her thoughts, the creaking of the bedroom door disrupted her reverie.

It was Callum.

"Isabella, I apologize. I was occupied throughout the day and only now managed to visit you," Callum spoke with feigned sincerity as he approached her.

"I am now your uncle's wife," Isabella retorted coldly. "Must I teach you how to address me?"

Understanding the anger behind her words, Callum persisted, his voice filled with anticipation. "I know you're upset. I didn't run away with you because I didn't want you to endure hardships. Uncle Daniel is practically on his deathbed, and you won't have to lift a finger while married to him. Once he's gone, I'll secure a skilled lawyer to ensure you inherit everything he possesses!"

Callum's hands eagerly reached for Isabella's, his eyes gleaming with greed. "When that day comes, we will have it all!"

A surge of repulsion coursed through Isabella as she recalled the scene she had witnessed earlier between Callum and Sophia. She forcefully wrenched her hands away from his grasp.

"Let go!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with a newfound intensity.

Her outburst caught Callum off guard. Was this the same Isabella he knew?

Isabella had always been gentle and kind, never raising her voice at him.

Had she discovered something?

Callum's guilt seeped into his consciousness, and he moved closer to Isabella, hoping to explain himself.

But in the next instant, his gaze shifted beyond Isabella's form. His eyes widened in disbelief, as if witnessing a ghostly apparition.

"He... He..." Callum stuttered.

Daniel, who lay motionless on the bed, began to slowly open his eyes.

Chapter 2

Under the shimmering glow of the crystal chandelier, Daniel's eyes, as black as obsidian, held a depth that was both captivating and dangerous. It was a gaze that sent a chill down one's spine, a gaze that Callum couldn't bear to meet. The color drained from his face as he stumbled back a few steps.

"Daniel is awake? Wasn't he supposed to be on his deathbed?" Callum stammered, fear washing over him like a tidal wave. Unable to contain her own terror, Isabella instinctively took a step back, her heart pounding in her chest as she made a beeline for the safety of the stairs.

"Mrs. Griffin! Daniel's awake! He opened his eyes!" Isabella cried out, her voice trembling with a mix of excitement and fear.

Hearing Isabella's urgent voice, Mrs. Griffin rushed up the stairs, her footsteps echoing through the grand hallway. "Master Daniel opens his eyes every day, Madam, but it doesn't mean he's awake," Mrs. Griffin explained, her voice tinged with weariness. "Look, he's not responding to anything we're saying right now." She sighed, her shoulders sagging. "The doctors say there's a very low probability for someone in a vegetative state to wake up."

Isabella couldn't shake off the uneasiness that lingered within her as Mrs. Griffin left the room. She sat stiffly beside Daniel, her eyes fixed on his striking features. With a hesitant hand, she reached out and waved it in front of his unresponsive eyes.

"What's on your mind, Daniel?" she whispered softly, hoping for even the slightest flicker of recognition. But there was no response, only silence.

A sudden pang of sadness washed over Isabella. Her own suffering seemed insignificant compared to what Daniel had endured. "I hope you wake up soon, Daniel," she murmured, her voice filled with genuine concern. "If that scumbag Callum gets his cold, sleazy hands on all your money, you won't be able to rest in peace."

Daniel slowly closed his eyes, as if retreating into the depths of his own subconscious.

The next morning, at the stroke of eight, Mrs. Griffin guided Isabella through the grand doors of the old mansion, leading her to the presence of Daniel's mother, Bellamy Scott. The living room was abuzz with the entire Scott family, each member waiting with bated breath for any news.

Isabella gracefully greeted and served tea to each family member, her movements precise yet filled with a gentle warmth. The room was filled with anticipation, a heavy air of concern hanging over them all. Isabella's cheeks turned a shade of pink as she mustered up a reply. "I slept quite well, thank you," she said, her voice laced with a hint of nervousness.

Bellamy's eyes gleamed with satisfaction as she reached for a purple gift box, elegantly adorned with a satin ribbon. "I have something for you, Isabella," she announced, her voice brimming with anticipation. With a delicate flourish, she opened the box and presented Isabella with a bracelet. "This will complement your skin tone perfectly. Do you like it?"

Isabella's heart sank. She couldn't possibly reject the gift, not in front of the entire family. "I do. Thank you," she murmured, her gratitude tinged with a sense of unease.

Leaning in closer, Bellamy's voice dropped to a conspiratorial whisper. "I know things have been difficult for you, Isabella. Daniel's condition has made it hard for him to treat you well. But there is a way for you to benefit from all of this," she revealed, a glimmer of cunning in her eyes. "Daniel's time is running out. He's never had the opportunity to start a family of his own, to leave behind a legacy..."

Isabella's body stiffened at the implication of Bellamy's words. A child? Was she suggesting that Isabella give birth to Daniel's child?

Before Isabella could gather her thoughts, Bellamy continued, her voice filled with determination. "I want you to give Daniel a child, Isabella. Carry on his bloodline," she declared, her words hanging heavy in the room.

Silence engulfed the space, broken only by the sound of Isabella's racing heartbeat. The shock on everyone's faces mirrored her own disbelief.

"Mother, Daniel has been ill for quite some time. There's a possibility he may be infertile," Henry, Daniel's eldest brother, interjected, his voice laced with concern.

But Bellamy merely chuckled, a knowing smile playing on her lips. "I have my ways, my dear Henry. With Daniel's vast estate, it would be inconceivable for him not to have an heir. Isabella will give him that child, whether it be a son or a daughter."

In an instant, all eyes turned to Isabella, their gazes heavy with expectation and judgment. She felt as though the weight of the world had been placed upon her shoulders.

Chapter 3

"Isabella, you're still in school, aren't you? Getting pregnant now would undoubtedly disrupt your studies," Henry's wife voiced her concerns.

Henry quickly chimed in, his agreement echoing through the room. "Absolutely! Isabella is young and ambitious. I highly doubt she's ready to sacrifice her education and devote herself to raising a child at this point in her life."

Bellamy, ever perceptive, understood the thoughts running through her son and daughter-in-law's minds. It was precisely why she remained steadfast in her determination to secure an heir for Daniel.

Turning her attention to Isabella, Bellamy posed a direct question, not mincing words. "Are you prepared to bear Daniel's child, Isabella? You must understand that both you and the child will inherit all of Daniel's estate in the future. It's a fortune substantial enough to ensure a life of comfort and security for both of you."Isabella's response was immediate and resolute. "I'll do it," she declared, her voice filled with determination. She would stop at nothing to ensure that Callum, her conniving ex-husband, would not lay his hands on a single penny of Daniel's hard-earned money.

The weight of the Scott family's power hung heavily in the air, threatening to crush her spirit. Even if she had been unwilling, their influence would have coerced her into compliance. But Isabella refused to be intimidated. She would fight tooth and nail to protect what was rightfully hers.

As Isabella spoke those words, Bellamy, her loyal friend and confidante, couldn't help but beam with pride. His eyes sparkled with admiration as he gazed at her, his heart swelling with affection. He had known all along that Isabella was different from the countless foolish women who fell prey to Callum's deceitful charm.

"That's wonderful!" Bellamy exclaimed, unable to contain his joy. "I always knew you were special, Isabella. Your strength and resilience set you apart from the rest.""They believed that Eliot's impending demise would render their efforts futile! How amusing!" Isabella scoffed, her voice dripping with disdain.

After the tea had been consumed and the last crumbs of cake devoured, Isabella made her way towards the grand entrance of the old mansion. The sun cast its golden rays upon her as she prepared to depart and return to her own abode.

But before she could take another step, Callum appeared, blocking her path. His presence was a stark contrast to the serene morning, his face etched with worry and uncertainty.

The cicadas continued their melodic chorus, blissfully unaware of the turmoil brewing within Isabella. Her stomach churned, a sickening feeling settling in at the sight of Callum's troubled expression.

Summoning her strength, Isabella mustered the courage to speak. "Please, Mrs. Griffin, I implore you to take the gifts home first," she pleaded, her voice laced with a mix of desperation and hope.Mrs. Griffin acknowledged with a nod before gracefully departing, carrying the gifts in her hands.

Ensuring they were alone, Callum mustered the courage to speak his heart, his voice filled with anguish. "Isabella, you're tearing me apart! Throughout our entire relationship, you never allowed me to touch you. But now, you're agreeing to bear Uncle Daniel's child!"

A sly smile played on Isabella's lips as she deliberately chose her words to inflict maximum pain. "By giving him a child, I secure my place in the family. Why wouldn't I do it?"

Callum's anger flared, evident in his agitated demeanor. "It's not a terrible idea. Instead, you could have my child and claim it's Uncle Daniel's. It would still carry the Scott name. Even if my grandmother becomes enraged, she would never force you to terminate the pregnancy."The sneer on Isabella's face instantly disappeared, replaced by a look of concern. "It's good to be ambitious, Callum, but ambition without brains can be a dangerous thing," she warned, her voice laced with caution. "I've heard stories about the people who surround Daniel. They're ruthless, waiting for him to wake up. If they find out about our child... I don't think they'll let you go."

Isabella's words crashed over Callum like a wave of ice-cold water, sending shivers down his spine. He knew all too well the cruelty of his uncle's minions. They were heartless, devoid of any compassion. They maintained a low profile in the aftermath of Daniel's accident, but their absence did not equate to their disappearance.

"I was only joking! Whether the child is his or mine, they will still be a Scott. When Uncle Daniel passes away, I'll treat his child as my own," Callum defended himself, his desperation evident in his voice.

Isabella let out a sigh before speaking, "Your uncle's child would technically be your cousin."

Callum's expression shifted, as if he had just swallowed something unpleasant.

"Let's not argue about this now, Isabella. We can discuss it once Uncle Daniel is no longer with us."

"What if he never dies? Will you wait for me forever?" Isabella retorted.

Her question left Callum speechless, unable to form a response.

Observing his speechlessness, Isabella chuckled mockingly and declared, "I'm leaving. Your grandmother has sent a doctor to Uncle Daniel's residence to attend to me."

...

Upon returning to Daniel's grand mansion, Isabella was immediately escorted to the hospital by two doctors for a thorough medical examination.

If she was in the midst of ovulation, they would extract her eggs. Otherwise, they would administer a shot to stimulate ovulation.

"There's no need to worry, Mrs. Scott. It might be slightly uncomfortable, but once you give birth to Mr. Scott's child, your position within the Scott family will be solidified," reassured one of the female doctors.

Isabella lay on the bed, her heart pounding in her chest.

"How long will it take for that to happen?"

Chapter 4

With a pause that carried the weight of wisdom, she looked at me and said, "You're young, my dear, so I have no doubt this will go smoothly."

As if in the blink of an eye, time whisked us away. And with the touch of an autumn shower, the vibrant hues of fall descended upon the quaint town of Avonsville.

Emerging from the bathroom, Isabella's presence was refreshed, her spirit rejuvenated by the cascading waters that had cleansed her body.

Taking a seat by the bedside, she retrieved the newly purchased face cream from her bag. Eagerly, she unscrewed the cap and delicately massaged the silky lotion onto her skin, savoring the sensation as it penetrated her pores."Hey, Daniel, should I apply some of this? The weather has been so dry lately," Isabella suggested, approaching Daniel's side with a small jar of cream in her hand.

Taking a seat on the edge of the bed, she delicately spread the cream across Daniel's face, her fingers gliding gently over his skin. As she did so, Daniel's eyes suddenly flew open, revealing a mesmerizing shade of deep amber. They glistened like precious gemstones, captivating Isabella in an instant.

The intensity of his gaze caught her off guard, causing her breath to hitch in her chest. It was as if his eyes held a secret, something powerful and alluring that stirred a whirlwind of emotions within her. Isabella felt her heart quicken its pace, her thoughts growing hazy as she found herself utterly captivated by the enigmatic depths of Daniel's gaze.Every morning, Isabella would witness the familiar sight of Daniel opening his eyes. Yet, no matter how many times she had seen this routine, it never failed to startle her. Today was no exception.

"Am I rubbing too hard?" Isabella asked, her voice filled with concern as she continued to gently massage his face. "I'm not using that much pressure, though!"

As her hands moved across his skin, her mind began to wander, and she found herself lost in a stream of murmured thoughts."I stumbled upon an online article, suggesting that your lack of a girlfriend could be attributed to your physique... But I don't believe you're that unattractive! Your arms are strong... and those muscular legs of yours..."

Once she finished applying the cream, Isabella lightly tapped her hands on Daniel's arms and legs. Her touch was gentle, not enough to elicit any immediate response.

However, Daniel's reaction caught her off guard, causing her eyes to widen in surprise. It was because... She thought she heard a man's voice.

"Was that you, Daniel? Did you just say something?" Isabella exclaimed, springing off the bed.

Chapter 4 (1)

Isabella's almond-shaped eyes locked onto Daniel in an intense stare, her gaze unwavering. There was something different about his gaze this time, a spark of life that had been absent before. His eyes, once vacant and hollow, now held a glimmer of emotion, even if it was tinged with anger, hatred, and suspicion.

"Mrs. Griffin!" Isabella exclaimed, her voice echoing through the house as she rushed downstairs like a startled cat. "Mrs. Griffin, Daniel's awake! He spoke! He's really awake!"

Her cheeks flushed with excitement, her heart pounding erratically in her chest. Every breath came in quick, shallow gasps as she tried to steady herself. This moment felt like a miracle, a dream come true.

And indeed, it was true. Daniel was finally awake. The long months of silence and stillness were over, replaced by a flicker of consciousness that brought hope and joy flooding back into their lives.Isabella was certain that he had roused from his slumber. His eyes, wide open, locked onto hers with an unsettling intensity. And then, he spoke. Though his voice carried a husky timbre and his words were drawn out, there was an undeniable threat underlying his every syllable.

"Who are you?" Daniel's query pierced the air, leaving Isabella momentarily speechless. Her mind, once filled with a cacophony of thoughts, fell into an eerie silence.

Never had she allowed herself to imagine this moment, to ponder what she would do if he were to awaken. All around her, whispers of his impending demise had echoed relentlessly, drowning out any possibility of contemplating the future. But now, faced with the reality of his awakening, Isabella found herself utterly unprepared.

The commotion drew the attention of Mrs. Griffin, the doctor, and the vigilant bodyguard. Startled by Isabella's distress, they hurried to her side, their faces etched with concern. The mansion buzzed with activity, a sea of people filling every room and corridor. It had been half an hour since Daniel woke up, and the shock still reverberated through the crowd. No one had expected him to regain consciousness.

Tears streamed down Bellamy's face as she rushed towards Daniel, unable to contain her joy. "I knew you would wake up, Daniel!" she exclaimed, her voice trembling with relief.

Henry, standing nearby, sighed with relief. "It's a miracle that you're awake, Daniel," he said, his voice filled with gratitude. "We were all so worried, especially Mother. The stress turned her hair gray."

The doctor finished his examination of Daniel and turned to Bellamy, a mix of awe and disbelief on his face. "Truly remarkable," he muttered. "There were no signs of recovery when I last checked on him. With rehabilitation treatment, he'll be back to normal in no time."

The news hit Bellamy like a tidal wave. Overwhelmed, her legs gave way, and she fainted from the sheer shock of it all.

Henry caught his mother just in time, cradling her in his arms. He carried her out of the room, leaving Daniel, the doctor, Mrs. Griffin, and the bodyguard behind.

Isabella stood frozen at the door, too afraid to step into the room. The air crackled with tension as Daniel's piercing gaze locked onto her.

"Who is she?" he boomed, his voice deep and powerful, laced with contempt.

The doctor trembled, barely able to find his voice. Mrs. Griffin lowered her head, her voice soft as she explained, "Master Daniel, she is the wife Madam Bellamy arranged for you while you were ill. Her name is—"

Daniel's lips curled into a cold, emotionless smile. "Get her out of here," he commanded, his voice devoid of any warmth or concern.
